Matt Bomer, star of the USA series "White Collar," officially came out as gay on Saturday (Feb. 13). He did so while receiving the New Generation Arts and Activism Award at the Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards.
As he accepted the prize for his efforts in fighting HIV/AIDS, Bomer thanks his partner Simon Hall and their three children. He says, "I'd really especially like to thank my beautiful family: Simon, Kit, Walker, Henry...Thank you for teaching me what unconditional love is. You will always be my proudest accomplishment."
The 34-year-old Bomer, has previously been mum about his love life. In a Jan. 2010 issue of Details magazine, the publication asked about rumors of his sexuality. He responds by saying, "I don't care about that at all. I'm completely happy and fulfilled in my personal life."
He then adds, "I have a network and a show riding on my shoulders. I would say a big difference between my character and me is that I can be too trusting. And I've realized in this business, that's not necessarily the smartest thing to be. I definitely have a thing or two to learn from the con artists."
